Getting around Capri

Capri is a small island, full of steps and steep roads, but it is easy enough to get around with the help of public transport. In any case, we advise you to wear comfortable footwear suitable for walking.

Intercity transport

On Capri’s public transport you may only carry one piece of luggage per person, weighing a maximum of 10 kilos and not exceeding the dimensions of a piece of hand luggage (23x30x50). An additional ticket must be purchased to transport of luggage. Larger luggage items can be transported by porters or by taxi. Prams and open baby carriages cannot be transported on buses or on the funicular railway. These must be folded before going up.

There are ticket offices at the bus terminal on Capri, in Piazza Martiri d’Ungheria (one minute from the Piazzetta) and in Anacapri, in Piazza della Pace. Tickets can also be purchased at newsstands.

MARINA GRANDE – PIAZZETTA CAPRI

The port of Marina Grande is connected to the Piazzetta of Capri by funicular railway. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office to the right of the pier and the service runs every 15 minutes (more frequently in the case of larger crowds)
